DREAM PLANNING LITERACY: The 4 Rs: Reading, Writing, Arithmetic & Dream Planning
What is Dream Planning Literacy? Well, remember the 3 Rs—the basic standard for education? This was an expression originating in the early 1800s. This concept referred to basic formal education skills which included reading, writing and rendering (arithmetic). However, the world of learning has changed since then. Because of this, I think it makes good sense to add a few items to the literacy list. Therefore, reading, writing, arithmetic are not enough for a complete education defined in the 21st century. As a result, I would like to suggest we exchange arithmetic for computer skills, as well as, add dream planning skills.
Personal Transformation is Missing in Education
To include dream planning as a fourth skill could seriously enhance anyone’s education, and prepare them to be successful in life. Many people such as Walt Disney, Abraham Lincoln (left school at 12), and Wolfgang Puck, did not finish high school. Additionally, Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, Steve Jobs were all college dropouts. These highly successful people are examples of those who understand the importance of personal transformation and how to bring their dreams to reality.
Although they did not finish their education you can bet they knew the 3 R’s. Indeed, they also certainly knew dream planning. How important is it for people to learn how to make a plan and set that plan in motion? With the ability to read, write, and wield the skill of dream planning, success of every kind is assured.
